What a winter shut-down does to a chalet
Humidity, salt and winter dust take their toll: musty soft furnishings, dust on every surface, and appliances that may not start first time. Preparing the chalet before the family or first renter arrives saves the whole arrival day.
The season-opening checklist
- Deep clean of floors, kitchen and bathrooms
- Wash stored linen, curtains and towels
- Service the A/C and clean its filters before the heat
- Check the water heater, water pressure and leaks
- Clean the pool and balance the water before first use
- Check locks and outdoor lighting
During the season
In peak months guests turn over often, so cleaning between stays, linen changes and weekly pool care become the routine.
